What is ramadan?
Ramadan is the holy month for Islam. In this month, Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset (this fast constitutes one of the five pillars of Muslim doctrine) and it is of great importance because in this month the archangel Gabriel revealed the Koran to the prophet Mohammed. It is estimated that about 25% of the world population celebrates this month.
What is Ramadan?
The best known is fasting, but there are many other things that must be done during these days. For the practitioners of Islam, from sunrise to sunset, you cannot eat, drink, have sex, or smoke. Along with that, the corresponding prayers are carried out and, the main thing, Muslims must feel in contact with their religion, with their God and reflect on what those who cannot feed themselves daily live. It is a moment of introspection, which should also serve not only to cleanse the body -through fasting-, but also to give more purity to the mind and soul of people.
Ramadan dates:
Start: May 15, 2018
End: June 14, 2018
These dates are approximate, since the beginning and end of Ramadan is marked by the lunar calendar.
